i’ve been thinking about this for a while now. the idea that gospel people say goodbye.
we are a church that is saying goodbye with more and more frequency. it’s the way of the sending church.
as much as we hate saying goodbye, part of our great commission is to go and make disciples of all nations. inevitably, that means we say goodbye. it’s hard and sad and at times frustrating. it does’t seem fair. our friends leave for other gospel works. but they are our friends. our dear friends.
my prayer is that god in his mercy will begin to open my tightly closed fist. to help me remember these are his people not mine. kingdom growth is what’s important. to remember time is limited. to rest assured in the great hope of seeing one another again.
and so we say goodbye with an eternal perspective and this great hope.
gospel people will say goodbye for the sake of christ and his kingdom.
